Renaming The Recycle Bin icon:
To change the name of the Recycle Bin desktop icon, click Start then goto Run, write Regedit and press Enter. It opens Registry Editor. Now in Registry Editor go to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID/{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
and change the name "Recycle Bin" to whatever you want (don't type any quotes).

Locking the desktop
If you are leaving your computer for a while and do not wish to turn it off, but want to assure that no-one else can use the computer while you are away, locking the desktop is the best option.

By pressing WINDOWSKEY+L, you password protect your system just as if you had logged out or restarted the computer. The advantage is that any programs or processes that were running when you locked the desktop will stay open and running in the background, ready for you to resume work or play.

Force windows XP to reboot upon crashing
This registry edit will cause your system to reboot itself automatically upon crashing. This can be useful if you have a reason for keeping your system on 24/7:

Open REGEDIT

Navigate to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM
\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl'

Edit the 'AutoReboot' value to '1'

Making Google the Default Search Engine in Interne
Open registry editor by going to Start then Run and entering regedit and navigate to following three keys separately and change it as shown below:

Increasing Band-Width By 20%:
Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates and interrogating your PC etc

To get it back:

Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes.This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:
Local Computer Policy then Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth. Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."
So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well.

Creating a desktop shortcut for locking your compu
If you use your computer in an area where others may have access to it, and there are things on your system you would rather have kept confidential, locking your desktop when you leave the computer is an essential task. Here's a recipe for a desktop shortcut that will lock your computer in two easy clicks:

Right click on an empty area of the desktop and choose 'new' then 'shortcut.' The create shortcut wizard will open; in the first text box, type '%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation' and then give your shortcut an appropriate name on the next page, and hit 'finish.'

You will notice that the shortcut you created has a blank icon. To select a more appropriate one, right click on the shortcut and hit 'properties.' In the 'shortcut' tab, click the 'change icon' button.

In the 'look for icons in this file' box, type '%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll' then click 'ok' to see a range of icons for your new shortcut. Choose an appropriate icon. Your desktop locking shortcut is now ready for use. Test it out.

Deleting System Softwares
XP hides some system software you might want to remove, such as Windows Messenger, but you can tickle it and make it disgorge everything. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/sysoc.inf, search for the word 'hide' and remove it. You can then go to the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Windows Components and there will be your prey, exposed and vulnerable.

Creating Shutdown Icon or One Click Shutdown:
Navigate to your desktop. On the desktop, right-click and go to New, then to Shortcut (in other words, create a new shortcut). You should now see a pop-up window instructing you to enter a command line path.
Use this path in "Type Location of the Item"
SHUTDOWN -s -t 01
If the C: drive is not your local hard drive, then replace "C" with the correct letter of the hard drive. Click the "Next" button. Name the shortcut and click the "Finish" button. Now whenever you want to shut down, just click on this shortcut and you're done.

Modify autoplay for different types of CD
Windows XP includes the ability to perform different actions depending on the type of CD you insert into the drive. For example, you could set your system to always respond to CDs containing MP3 files by opening Windows Media Player.

To edit the Autoplay properties: Open 'my computer'. Right click on the drive you wish to set and select 'properties.' Choose the autoplay tab. Use the dropdown box to see the various recognized types of CD and choose appropriate actions for them.

Search Only Microsoft-related sites with Google

Ever wanted to search only microsoft related article or software, and ended up in loosing most of the time. Even Google's general search doesn't satisfy our need of particular search. Hence using google's particular special Microsoft based search result pages.There are times when it is absolutely necessary to look for information on a Microsoft website or in their Knowledge base - & we all know how frustrating that can be :( Google comes to the rescue with a search that checks *only* Microsoft-related sites.

So check this Google's cool search only meant for Microsoft.

Update: It's not that Google offers particular search result page for Microsoft. There are many. You can share with us. Just like Google offers search only for Linux on it's Special Linux search page.

New pricing structure for Adsense Referrals

Finally Google has decided to change some of their pricing structure for Google referrals. After reviewing their feedback for referral products, Google has redesigned their pricing structure. And this time, Google move is in the favor of Publisher. Let take a look at Google new referral pricing system

Changed Adsense Referral pricing system:

When a publisher who signed up for Google Adsense through your referral earns their first $5 within 180 days of sign-up, you will be credited with $5.

When that same publisher earns $100 within 180 days of sign-up and is eligible for payment, you will be credited with an additional $250.

If, in any 180-day period, you refer 25 publishers who each earn more than $100 within 180 days of their respective sign-ups and are all eligible for payout, you will be awarded a $2,000 bonus (bonus payouts are limited to 1 per year).

Changed Adword Referral pricing system:

When an advertiser you refer spends $5 within 90 days of sign-up (in addition to the $5 sign-up fee) you will be credited with $5.

When that same advertiser spends $100 within 90 days of sign-up, you will be credited with an additional $40.

If, in any 180 day period, you refer 20 advertisers who each spend more than $100 within 90 days of their respective sign-ups, you will be awarded a $600 bonus but bonus payments are limited to 1 per year, not bad.

This means, if anyone earn 5$ in 180 days of singing up, then you will get 5$.This also true for those referrals who has already singed for Google Adsense but has not reached 10$.

My thought: Google move will definitely encourage publisher to sell ad spaced for Adsense which will in turn benefit Google.

Google Manages Your Clicks on Sponsored Links

Now you can search and manage all the sponsored links you've clicked on Google's search results pages. Google Search History added a new section for Google ads, in the growing list of services available in this interface. This might be useful if you want to buy something, but you want to check other sites before actually ordering the product: you come back to the search history and have the links there.

Google also has a search engine that only shows sponsored links. Just in case you get bored with the actual search results.

During my last post I introduced you about 3 column Kubrick template. Well this time I did check its functionality and I was missing two main things which I need it for my site. As I mentioned you previously I am goanna use 3 column template now. But it will take a time so while I personalize my template, I have do some changes in my template and new functionality.

So I have added TWO new functionality:

1. Related Post at Bottom of the Post on post pages only. (thanks PurpleMoggy)
2. Various Social bookmarking (just you can experience at footer of post)

Quick Instructions:
• Now you can have related post functionality by just adding simple HTML code at the end of the post footer. (Note you might notice already created “Related Post” page element, you will just have to add the code given at the end of the post.

Hey I have come across some of the seo technique. So I want to share those with you. These are not full proof techniques but it will increase your chances of getting indexed and thus more traffic. And IF you know any other points rather than this then please share it with us.......add your points .

There are lots of advanced SEO & marketing techniques, which you will be using but before that you must use these basic SEO strategies before putting your effort on those things.

1. Get-your-domain-name-dot-com/org/net( The main TLD’s are preferred but if you are focusing on local visitors of your country, then getting a country specific extension like .us or .uk helps a lot)
2. Hosting your site/blog on a reliable hosting company.(If you are using free services like blogger or wordpress.com then sooner or latter you will need those services which they don’t provide, so rather than wasting your time in those free services, spend few bucks on hosting & domain)
3. Never put your domain name in the Meta Title > if anything your registered BUSINESS NAME should be here and the last few words of the 60 character title.
4. Never start a word pass 58 characters <>5. Use wordtracker.com to research the proper keywords for your site.
6. Add the robots tag & Place the robots.txt in your root on your server.
7. Make sure to have a site map page.
8. Make sure you have 404 page.
9. Use css instead of color, size and font tags.
10. Change the link buttons or js links in to text links.
11. Include your keywords in the alt tags of images.
12. Use the H1 tag for page headings (you can alter the way h1 displays text with CSS)
13. Get rid of the js in the code and put it in an external file.
14. At the bottom of each page use menus as text links.
15. Make sure your page code is not bigger than 100 K.
16. Submit your site to ODP(make sure to select the right category), Yahoo Dir, and other free directories like gimpsy.com and goguides.org etc.
17. Try to get as much as relevant links you can.
18. Read each search engines guide lines and follow them strictly.
19. Don’t spam & Don’t cloak.
20. Don’t use doorway pages.
21. Pay special attention to your content.
22. Put your competitors on your site and compare your positive points to their negative points (be truthful though).
23. Syndicate your content (if possible you can use Feedburner service which helps a lot in tracking your feed subscribers).
24. Use a good visitor tracking system like Google Analytics.
25. Write unique & interesting contents & use social bookmarking sites like digg.com & del.icio.us.

Remember SEO isn’t just about getting to #1… it’s also about selling "more" once you’re there!

Well we will look into such SEO (search engine optimization)tips for increasing blog traffic. I know many points have been repeated 100 times but I have tried to present it in new and easy manner. So after you apply those techniques feel free to share your experience with us. Well I am not SEO specialist but I will be sharing the techniques which I learned for getting traffic for my site. So without wasting out time we will discuss some facts and To Do things for getting traffic.

Submit your article to different Directories

Many people feel this option useless. But as far as my opinion is concerned, I will always recommend you to go for directory submission. Generally directories have higher PR and more traffic. So if you get nice traffic from such directories. Ari Paparo has compiled a list of blog directories that you might want to start with. For some handsome collections of directories, click here.

Caution: Beware if you are submitting to unknown directories. Now spammers are creating fake directories to get more scope.

Nice Blog Design will always help you to get nice traffic

People always do this common mistake. Usually blogger is very selective about the Theme and forget about design of the Blog. So, it will look like just another Blog and you lose you reader. If you think readers point of view, nice themed Blog with necessary and easy to use navigations, will always help him to find right information and thus pleasing him. Normally, people get confused between Blog design and Blog appearance which is part of Blog design. Here, we will understand more about part of design which includes position of the various page elements such as,

Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Search, Feed Icon, About ME Page, etc.

So, with intelligent positioning of your various page elements, you can convince your reader about the quality of the content, your strength and in turn it will help you to get regular readers.

Recent comments should be given least priority and can be placed lower level of sidebar.

So, from this we can conclude that having nice Blog design with nice theme is very important. I also want to add small information, that blogger tend to choose top 10 Blog themes and even after his hard work on design do not help him to get more traffic because it will look similar. So for getting nice traffic and building nice traffic, your Blog should be unique in terms of Blog design & Blog theme. So try to choose some off topic theme which will attract your reader.

Listing down all your popular post under 2-3 categories

This is one of the most important things for novice blogger for retaining your organic traffic (traffic from Search engine) and converting them to regular readers. For getting more idea what I am saying about refer to following picture.

This example illustrates us about importance of main listing categories. This is simple theory, suppose reader comes to your Blog and after reading the content if he finds some meaningful information about hot topics, then only reader will build faith on you. In this way, you can succeed in getting another regular reader.

Yeah it’s another Google move to ban the site. The site was banned because it had “Adsense” in the domain. I saw this on that website.

“Due to recent allegations about my site being banned from Google, I would like to announce following: AdsenseBlackList.com is URL that was banned from Google Adsense program because of the buzz it has caused by using "Adsense" in it. Since that's their trademark, they suspended ads on my pages, and that's one of the reasons why I'm changing it to AdsBlackList.com. Other reason is that, due to your enormous feedback/suggestions, I want to focus on YPN (Yahoo Publishers Network) and MSN Ad Center market in the future.”

So it’s another move from Google. Ok well I personally don’t have any problem with the site whether it’s adsblacklist or adsenseblacklist. Well it’s seems that author will continue to provide the best service, that’s all what we need just now.

Why Adsense Payments are not done with Paypal

Have you ever thought of getting Adsense payment in lesser time period? Just now time required to get Adsense payment is more than two months which is far more than expected. But after thinking about it & discussing with other friends, I came to following conclusion which is very interesting to read.

It’s very simple theory related to such typical questions. Google needs some time to collect money from the advertisers and give to publishers. So it is supposed to be the transition period for payments. But in the age of electronic media, do Google needs so much of time to make payments? Answers seems to more tricky than what we thought of?

Well, it is believed that Google earns much more out of this Adsense program but Google restricts the payments for15 to 20 days, because of vast scope TOS violation. In such way Google can restrict many users from doing TOS violation and banning them within period.
But for such simple reason, Google don’t behave like this. It is also believed that Google does earn interest for that transition period, in turn getting more revenue out of it.
